I mean, it isn't like sales of the core series hasn't been sliding for years while Game Freak slowly started dumbing them down. They would never do anything as practical and reasonable as look at success differentials and make a judgment call.
LGPE is affecting Gen VIII. We just don't know to what extent yet.
