Going through a lot of the G/S OST on youtube, there's a common theme between this specific game in the series and not R/B/G or any later title, it's usually that the top comments are not only about nostalgia, but about longing, sadness, and loneliness and wishing for the times they first played these games in their childhood to come back
Gold and Silver were released in 2000 in north america, so a kid playing at the time and the height of Pokemania must have been loving life and then a few months later, 9/11 happened, where their childhoods were interrupted by seeing some real shit, terrorist attacks, suicide bombings, war, etc
so these comments feature some kind of hall of damned souls, where those that played these games had their childhoods taken away from them by force and are now miserable depressed adults and gen 2 emits a powerful nostalgia that is primal in a sense which is why when someone says "comfy" with no evidence, it's that same reasoning
