Gamefreak still has time to backpedal and announce that they'll add in compatibility for missing mons to SS via a patch. I doubt they'd be insane enough to delay the game anyways so that's pretty much the only move they have left if they don't wish to kill their own franchise.
If anything I feel as though writing out these posts and thinking on the subject of what exactly made pokemon good and why it's dead after this has only given me catharsis. We've already been seeing the decline of the games for the last few gens, now gamefreak is crossing the point of no return.
It's a shame that you've yet to really put your thoughts and feelings into words, you've simply been dancing around the all important question you need to ask yourself of "why you don't care". If you can't answer that then I guess you really do care and were just too ashamed of admitting that you're passionate about something because earnestness is cringe or something else.
