>>35441935I think a lot of it is just trust. Ash believes Lillie is capable on doing things on her own but the others like Mao and Gladion treat her like some weak girl that needs help all the time. When she's hanging out with people that want to protect her she is always seen as worthless with little chance to grow. But in a lot of cases when she's on her own she actually shows independence.
