Despite the graphical enhancements, it still feels like the same RPG from 20 years ago, where we used our imagination to fill in the blanks for what was going on during battles. Game Freak has made no advancement on that front, and still relies on the anime (and games like Pokken) to convey what's really supposed to be going on in Pokemon battles.
