Pokemon has become Digimon.
I love digimon but the focus from the fanbase has always been, ironically, the humans, because the digimon themselves have weird designs and are more like "characters" than "monsters"

The same thing is happening in Pokemon except its worse since the pokemon can't even talk

One of the things I missed most about the original series was how it really felt like every couple of episodes it felt like an actual adventure where the writers would flex their ideas and come up with crazy scenarios for Ash and Co. to get into. Like I remember going to school after the morning the SS Anne episode aired and all the kids were talking about how they couldn't believe the episode ended with them on the sinking ship. And then that was followed up with them trying to get out, getting stranded on the giant Pokemon Island (plus the first and only time as far as I know the Pokemon got to interact with subtitles) and ended with the resort episode with the giant Tentacruel. And then not much longer after they had the Sabrina arc where you learned about her past, met her father, Brock and Misty got turned into dolls and Ash fucking died trying to catch a ghost Pokemon. It wasn't always representative of the games but as a kid it made me think "wow, I can't wait until the games have some crazy adventures like this (lol)". And this trend kept up in the Orange Islands where it was all original material, the gyms were more than just types + battling and the tests made me think of the minigames that Stadium had, which I think at the time I thought was a hint about how the rumored Gold and Silver would have those types of minigames with their gyms too. I think though some time in the middle of Johto I realized those types of miniarcs and the creativity of the adventures seemed to disappear. The writers dropped off the GS ball and every episode afterwards was just about the NPC of the day or the mon of the day and any special episodes were few and far between.

Nevertheless, it still feels weird knowing in a few hours it's all coming to an end. The show was such a big part of my childhood and I'm glad to see it finally reach some kind of conclusion.
