I consider Gen 6 to be the most boring generation in to date. The games and monsters weren't bad or anything, it's just that all we got were one main game and a remake. Sure, gen 5 also had two games, but the second game was pretty much the extension/improvement of the first in the form of a sequel, while XY remains un-improved/updated. We dont see much of the Rhyhorn race track, or who "the one" that hex maniac was talking about.
ORAS did try to fill the role of the "3rd version" with move tutors and the Dexnav, but the game mostly filled the role of just being the remake. Even with the remake extras, we were teased with the Battle Frontier, which was just a building for ants. They probably planned something, but ran out of time, understandably.
Meanwhile most of the attention went to other fun but non-connective side games, especially Shuffle. Most game-related updates this gen were just about new limited events to get a hard-to-get item.
The new global link website was also a step-down from the last one. all you do is gain miles to play games and buy items. While in the previous one, you could play games to collect/trade items and get Hidden Ability pokemon aside from decorating your house and growing berries. You didnt even need to really own the games to do all that, but it let you collect and catch as much as you could until you do.
so that's pretty much all i have to defend what i said. but unless XY2/Z becomes a thing eventually, I'll still place it below Gen wun.
