>>11977268I've always seen combat like that as a trainer with pokemon by their side, both of them equally doing work.
In one of my fanfics, I had pokemon planned out to be no more than vehicles because it would be civil war types of battles, with pokemon providing a supporting role, but mostly the human doing it.
That feel when still no dedicated horse pokemon that makes senseBut then again, I've been experimenting with both of them with equal parts in the war as well, like the Trojan war and stuff.
However, I'm still not sure how it would play out with WW2 era weapons, and I can't decide what role pokemon would play in it. Most likely equal parts of the war where instead, pokemon battles are fought to the death and it's just a massive clusterfuck as each trainer has all their pokemon out and their gun out, and are alternating between human or pokemon. I'll have to get back to you on that, but I've never seen a fic yet that really explains their role within war.
