He's supposed to look cartoony and over the top, thus his legs are much thinner than his upper body, which is a common trait in cartoon tough guys. He has large fingers because he's a wrestler and needs to grab things well. Redesigns like this either remove his cartoon tough guy appeal, remove the large hands, or ruin both in favor of a boring fire cat Machoke. The people who do redesigns like this never got what was supposed to be appealing in the first place
