Anyways, the point of my mentioning was that we don't call America the fatherland NOR the motherland. It doesn't matter if you think that America is a feminine name, it doesn't matter who Lady Liberty is, we've never ONCE had a real historical precedent for calling it either one.
Y'see, the term fatherland represents heritage, tradition, government and order, while motherland implies nurturing and a place of birth. While in the past, America has been described by these terms, the reality of the situation is that America has always been referred to as the homeland. Not fatherland, not motherland, HOMELAND.
Homeland is very different, in the fact that it represents land that is mostly occupied by a non homogenous ethnic background. Seeing as America was always "the melting pot", this makes homeland the most fitting term.
