The ralts you encounter in the field are actually children of gallade and gardevoirs who let them out of their hidden forest homes to play. Being more of a chaotic or neutral alignment (megaten) they tend to let their children have a lot of freedoms and wander far. When you capture a ralts, you are essentially kidnapping it and running off.
Their true parents are now searching for them, and plotting, planning to steal them back from you. They are quite intelligent, possibly moreso than your average above average human; and they know you are strong and have many pokemon and items to defend you, so they 0are just waiting for something like you to fall asleep so they can kill you and take back their child. Some day, you will face against a creature that will die to protect its family; and they will strike when you are woefully under-prepared.
Death is the least of your concerns.
