>Completely left field choice that opens up the door to new designs that couldn't have existed before / retypes some old Pokemon who are currently monotype (Dark, Steel and Fairy)>A temporary or advanced type that functions as a combination of lesser types or some kind of gimmick/lore driven "super type" (Shadow)We have only seen new types added a few times and those are the categories I would say they fit into. As for my own ideas of what those could be, for the second option I could see them bringing back Shadow type into the mainline games or giving us something like Light, Plasma, Cosmic, Wild, etc where we just get alternate forms of pre-existing Pokemon and maybe one or two new unique Pokemon to kind of sell this new advanced type. For the first option, I really think the only one that makes sense at this point is something like cyber/digital type where you're only retyping maybe one Pokemon line and then all of the new designs are things that really can't exist now. The problem with doing something like sound or light type in this way is that you would have to retype so many things it's just easier to not bother. Dark and steel made sense because there were many designs that could have been those types yet when they were created, and fairy kind of fills a gray area so that works too. I just don't think that something like sound makes sense there
