>>55338682>>55338695>>55338730I agree. It is the thinking man's pokemon.
Avalugg is cool but it was a bit too plain. Hisuian avalugg adds that small splash of earthy color and cool mandibles.
>It's just a rockThat's just it though. That's what makes it sexy.
Had you said
>It's just a glacierI would agree. Base avalugg leaves a lot to leave desired. Why the fuck IS there just a sentient glacier pokemon? Kinda lame.
Sentient geological formations is not an ice type aesthetic that works very well.
Rock types have precedent thoughever.
Sentient geological features as rocks are a hallmark of pokemon design and it's such a subtle but consistent trope throughout pokemon that knockoffs like buddyplanet wish they could steal.
Crustle is awesome because it's a rock type.
Garganacl is awesome because it's a rock type.
Gigalith is awesome because it's a rock type.
Minior is awesome because it's a rock type.
These are rocks with faces (sometimes even less) but it makes sense because they're ROCKS. HIsuian Avalugg is a fucking slab of mountain. The rock typing was what it needed to tie the whole concept together so you look at avalugg and go "ohhh I get it, it's a geological phenomenon as a pokemon, like onix"
The easiest way to explain it is like
>make a sentient suit of roman armor pokemon>steel>??? this makes zero sense>make galarian knight suit of armor variant>ghost/steel>looks like it's straight out of scooby doo and it would tie the whole concept together, H-avalugg is like that but with ice+rock
