Rules are standard autismlocke rules from what I've gathered, and my personal level cap is -2 from the level cap listed in OP. For each game's starter I'm just randomly genning a three stager to replace the pre-existing ones, but making sure the rival chooses the advantageous starter.
I'd say I've gotten pretty lucky so far, I missed out on a Metapod due to Juno critting it in Viridian Forest and Mercury the Rattata only ever got the chance to be a throw away for the optional rival battle on Route 22. Neptune was my Boulder Badge MVP because I literally only used him to Bubble every 'Mon in that Gym to the point he levelled up thtee times in there.
