There was a great battle between them and the current pokemon variants. When all seemed lost for the other pokemon, the legendary pokemon of the region stepped in and slew all of them. As punishment, some remain in ghost form, their fear and rage sustain them. Legend has it, that trainers that bond closely with one of these pokemon, by the light of a full moon, can break the curse, and are able to see them transform before their very eyes into a remnant of their former selves.
