If you're talking about the games, Guzma's dad beat him with golf clubs and Arven's version parent gets slaughtered by the alpha raidon (offscreen of course). Team Plasma committed domestic terrorism by icing over an entire city in the actual game so it seems a little bit more violence allowed. Reminder the anime cut this arc entirely to avoid terrorism associations.
