I did it on Sapphire and Platinum. Both required me using an Action Replay though to save money. Otherwise I'd have to buy mediocre GameCube RPGs, Link Cables, etc.
With Sapphire it was just for the hell of it, but with Platinum I wanted to have a good roster for Battle Revolution. Now that Battle Revolution is outdated... yeah, you get the idea.
Never even entertained the notion of trying to catch them all since. Closest I'd consider doing is catching all pokemon in a regional dex, but fuck national dex, bruhs.
