Even before the drizzle buff of gen 7 i used this guy in my ruby game and my omega ruby game. He really pulled through and pulled more than his fair share of the weight.
My original ruby pelipper was a girl named lee, and the one i used in omegaruby was a boy named lee. I transfered both up to sun and I'm considering trying to breed them together to make the ultimate competitive lee, but i don't know if i can even get a drizzle pelliper that way.
