>>51765065>What is your honest opinion about Pokemon FRLG?As a whole, they’re thoroughly mediocre Pokémon games. Not bad, but not especially good either, and we’ll get to why.
>In your opinion, how does FRLG compare to the other remakes and the rest of main series games? As far as remakes go, they took the “make it 1:1 but update mechanics” approach, which is lame imo but also inoffensive. They absolutely surpass BDSP since the hardware was still weak enough that they could pull off something like this without it being conspicuous, not to mention they at least added stuff like the sevii islands. I hesitate to say it’s any better than ORAS tho, ORAS is more flawed but that’s due to them at least trying to be more different. FrLg didn’t even make an attempt, which was for the best but is also disappointing. In regards to other mainline games, they’re very underwhelming. RSE mogs FrLg in well too many ways for me to think very highly of them.
>What do you like and dislike about the game?I like that they managed to avoid filling the game with unnecessary fluff, and what little stuff they did add is mostly good. Stuff like the VS seeker adds a lot to the games. I dislike that they didn’t even bother to do more than the bare minimum, to really INNOVATE. The 1:1 approach cripples them, they had the opportunity to portray Kanto in much more detail than they could’ve on the GB but they didn’t, they arguably made it even blander. This is core of my issue with the games, i believe that a good remake should take the vision for the original games and execute on it in ways the originals couldn’t have due to limitations of some kind. FrLg don’t bother with this, so I dislike them. Even so, I won’t call them bad games, they’re not, they’re just personally disappointing
