oak is really good for villa, and a good tank in general. villa itself favors using a strong striker and a support that can heal (pikachu is really good since potions can refresh/glacia is good for certain fights, etc).
you have limited uses of your trainer moves and your health doesn't heal unless you use the villa specific items, so it's kind of like a gauntlet of 9 of your sync pairs until you get to the end. everyday it restores your health and stuff so you can continue. you can also reset the battle before you lose in case you get bad RNG so it's useful to help scout out floors and see what team to take in
