The graphics were never the biggest issue with the previous games, it was that they were stagnant and bland in the gameplay department, how the level and world design was railroaded like were still in the GBA era
PLA proved that the gameplay was what we wanted, also carried by fun and interesting characters. Nobody looked at the characters in PLA and said, "ew not realistic enough"
