This was MOSTLY the case up until gen 6/7 where shit started becoming intangible as far as origins and you could swear that everyone was just grasping at air to legitimize the awful designs coming out of the pipelines.
Gen 6 and 7, if you took all the garbage 'mons of those gens, would make one entire gen's worth of passable 'mons. It's just all dogshit anymore.
