Why’d they stop buffing old Pokémons’ stats in Gen 8?

I love how Gen 6 and 7 decided to buff some older Pokémon’s stats: it usually didn’t “fix” them, but it did help make them more usable online, and in general it’s nice when a Pokémon you like is made better. Why, then, didn’t they buff any older Pokémon in Gen 8? Instead, they nerfed Aegislash. I don’t think there were even any old Pokémon that got new abilities. It’s just disappointing to me, kind of a missed opportunity.
