I know when a Japanese website posted the designs many Japanese said "Oh shuckle is snake wine" and instantly recognized it as that, so I assume there's a cultural connection, but the larvae thing could explain the bug typing. Why are there so many animals in alcohol?
I just find it odd that, for these more obscure and unique Pokemon, their origins feel so obvious in hindsight now that it's revealed. Wobbufet's earlier design, for example, seems to have been more slime-like, which explains its aversion to light.
Did anyone make a suggestion for Snake-wine or something similar for SHuckle's origin? The closest I can ever think is mold.
