My knowledge of the timelines was cemented during ORAS and X&Y since it seemed like an official explanation for megas. I'm almost certain it was talked about in an official capacity, and the 3DS games leaned into it a lot. I haven't kept a close eye on the Switch era. Nowadays, maybe they don't care anymore and are letting it all melt into one big mainline game canon because they realize juggling retcons with such a massive multi-media franchise is hard. Like wtf is BDSP? I guess its just a prequel and also sequel, to Legends Arceus. PLA drops a couple characters from previous games in which raises unanswered questions, and Violet has an NPC that gives you an Arceus phone and mentions "Hisui"
