Gyarados did have a handy move here: Dragon Rage. Magneton already had some damage thanks to the prior battle, so I thought "I have one shot." Would Dragon Rage take it out?
It didn't.
I immediately turned away when Shock Wave hit. I walked away. I didn't want to see Gyarados go down... and so, I walked away. I needed some air.
I come back minutes later to close up shop... to find that Gyarados had tanked that Shock Wave and held on with 2 HP. 2. Full health to 2 HP.
Finished Magneton off with another Dragon Rage and that was that. We won, but at what cost? I had lost pretty much everything in the process, leaving me only with that Gyarados. I didn't have anything in the box, so I carried on with just Gyarados.
We rebuild the team and we managed to make it all the way to the Elite Four. We wiped at Gloria, but it all could have ended at the third Gym... Miracles can happen and it was a miracle we even made it that far after that carnage.
It's a shame we didn't make it to the end, but she carried us pretty far.
