Theory: Morgan is a manipulative chessmaster. She manipulated Evelyn's friends and circumstances by sewing little lies here and there to produce her low self-esteem so that she can keep her under her thumb at all times. She acts motherly and patronizing in order to keep Evelyn from ever growing independent. She's not cruel to her, but she enjoys having that kind of control over somebody.
She initially tried this on Nita, but it didn't work because the girl is too positive and cheerful. She has Dana in her back pocket, and uses her too, to keep Evelyn under her thumb.
If Morgan finds out anybody is interested in Evelyn, she will do all that she can to eradicate that person.
