What if Northington, shamed out of the scientific community over his obsession with the lost city of gold, uses the last bit of his money to fund a personal expedition, along the way he meets up with a wealthy woman and her 3 mooks who offer to help him in his quest. Little does he know that she's secretly after the Gold Idol who's rumored to be there. Northington unwittingly helps Team Evil discover the gold city, at which point they find Xochi running about. Mistaking her for the gold idol, the evil team capture her, causing Quetz to awaken. While you fight the evil team mooks, Fancy woman and Northingtion continue further into the gold city, into a great temple where the gold idol is supposed to live.
After defeating the mooks, their Golem's abandon them, having deemed them unworthy as trainers. You can encounter them from now on in key locations in the game to be decided.
Your HP low, you continue after North and Lady. You enter the temple, down various passages, and arrive in a great chamber that looks like an ordinary field with trees and logs and a lake etc, except everything's been turned to gold. In the middle of the room you find a golden statue, It's Northington, he's been turned to gold.
You continue to find the Lady, she's got the gold idol cornered. You surprise her, and a battle begins.
After defeating the lady, Xochi is released, she gives you a kiss on the cheek and then she and the gold idol fly off together (they can both be encountered back in the gold town post game.
Freeing Xochi calms Quetz and the world goes back to normal, you can later encounter Quetz in the Dragon Graveyard.
The weather spirits will be non plot related, but random encounters like the legendary dogs.
