>>48520485You don't refute the middle. If anything, make the point that the reason why people like Pokemon is for the POKEMON. They like having hundreds of little critters to collect and being able to choose their favorite critter and customize that critter in various ways (nickname, movesets, ball stickers). It's literally supposed to mimic bug-catching where you spend all day looking for a grasshopper then get excited when you find it.
If anything, the problem lies in that Pokemon needs to amp up the exploration and discovery. I don't think people would actually give a shit if Gyms went away. People were happy when HMs went away. At this point, players just want:
>Ability to explore a large, well-crafted world with several biomes (including sky and water)>A large amount of Pokemon variety that infest said biomes>Dozens of special event Pokemon (Legend battles, Red Gyarados, sleeping Snorlax)>Ability to customize your Pokemon (Clothing, ball effects, swapping out balls for ballmon)>Ability to super train your Pokemon to perfection (IV training, EV training, guaranteed breed moves/abilities, etc)>Ability to interact with your Pokemon (Brushing, petting, playing, feeding)At this point, fuck the towns, fuck the gyms, fuck the Elite Four, fuck the Team of the Day. I want a Breath of the Wild game where everytime I set up camp, it turns into Nintendogs for my Pokemon.
