The irony that every post in here is
>calling for tier division
>bans
>clauses
>anarchy
>Nobody can agree on a new ruleset
Just goes to show why smogon has such longevity. Their system works, in a way that is beneficial for everyone, that everyone can agree is fundamentally fair.
There is NOTHING wrong with smogon. As time and time has proven that bans/tiers/and clauses are healthy for the game competitively
Also it's hilarious you say that smogon is "divorced from the community" as they are the community. They host the tournaments, they provide the forums, the best movesets, etc.
Especially in cases like this, every real competitive player understands why these pokemon need a quick ban. They also understand why quick bans are necessary. Outside of quick bans smogon bans are a public vote that allows even newer players to participate.
Like the last bans of gen 8. The melmetal ban was a complete community vote that ended with melmetal not being banned. A divorced entity wouldn't be holding public votes.
Stay mad.
