"Well-developed" is being way too generous. Going back to the ME specials, he was honestly pretty bad and bland. Felt like a Yugioh protag knockoff or something.

Also, I love how people keep trying to meme that he "took legendaries head-on" when after revisiting the Me specials, it's quite the opposite. Dude got his ass handed to him 6 ways to Sunday and Steven and Manon had to bail him out. Even the whole "He beat 10 other MEs in a row!" thing si exaggeratd cause he got to heal between each round with items and Malva literally threw the last match for him by getting rid of Houndoom's fire immunity once it Mega Evo'd. The only thing remotely impressive was fighting 50% Zygarde in XY&Z and even there, it wasn't on his own. He still had help from Team Flare.

The more I see people talk about Alan, the more I realize said people either didn't actually watch his stuff or only did once and go off of bad memory instead of actually pulling up the episodes for themselves and seeing the moments again to make sure they saw them correctly.

Alan isn't that strong of a trainer. His Charizard itself isn't even that strong, either. It's ME is just kinda strong, but that's all he's got going for him since once you figure out how to shut it down, the rest of the team falls easily.

If Alan ever had to fight Paul and he slipped up and let things go on too long or Paul studied him ahead of time, he'd get fucking destroyed by him in their first match. If not, he' probably win soundly the first time and lose to him every time after that.

I think I just really really like Veronica Taylor as a voice actress. I have a bit of a thing for reverse traps, so ash being voiced by a lady soooort of gets me a bit.

Anyway, he's kind of an interesting character. Been working at a nebulous goal with a lot of passion for years. He has a really positive attitude with almost no introspection.
