Pokemon the First Movie (dub) sucks dick and the only reason anyone defends it is due to nostalgia. The animation is nice but that's literally all it has going for it. Any deeper message in the original was lost so that Mewtwo could just be le bad guy and then for some reason there's an anti-violence message in a fucking Pokemon movie. People will say "you idiot, Joy says 'violence LIKE THIS' is bad" but then that is followed up by Team Rocket proclaiming that they will never fight anyone again. They almost had their message make a bit of sense, but then had to fuck it up.
The dubbing on the movie is even worse than some of the worst dubbed episodes of the time, all the music was replaced. They turned a movie that was intended for children but at least had some entertainment value for older audiences into a movie only five year olds could truly love. It's the worst movie dub there's ever been and probably will ever been, and it's a bad movie in general.
