It would have been far less ominous if M-Gallade were to be squeezed into some random nook around reworked Hoenn, but this particular Mega became a substantial part of the main storyline and many people don't seem so overjoyed about it now.
PR-wise this is nothing short of a screw-up and GF usually handles these matters professionally.
