then they realized it's a horrible idea and dropped it slowly starting in gen 4 and culminating in gen 6 where PIDs are completely vestigial and TID/SID combinations are no longer tied together by a faulty pRNG, so they replaced them with locations and memories which retarded pokegen kiddies don't know how to deal with, which had the side effect of making breeding a lot more lenient
i wouldn't put it past them to give hackers some degree of leeway so they can get more competitors for them sweet tournamentbucks
