This gen 2 team was a rough experience. Level 40 wasn't enough to beat Lance on set with no items in battle, so I used a Rare Candy code to get everyone to 45 and even then, I only won high dif.
>Crobat
I had to grind quite a bit in the early game for Supersonic and Bite. It became a Crobat at level 30 right as it learned Wing Attack. I didn't have the best luck with Confuse Ray because the opponent often snapped out within a turn or two. The King's Rock worked well with Bite.
>Quagsire
I bred one with a Lapras to get Body Slam but I didn't get to paralyze as much as I wanted.
>Stantler
First time ever using one in any game. Since it can't take advantage of its special attack stat, it's basically a poor man's Tauros even though you can catch both at around the same time. Stantler doesn't even have the advantage of leveling up faster.
>Flareon
First time use for gen 2. Spent a fortune on coins for the Fire Blast TM but it was worth it in the end. Thank fuck for the Amulet Coin. The base 65 speed often prevented me from taking advantage of flinch from Headbutt and Bite.
>Electrode
Just like with Flareon, this was also a first time use for gen 2 and I spent a fortune for the Thunder TM. I did the in-game trade for the Voltorb so it would level up faster. It was satisfying being able to out speed Lance's Aerodactyl.
>Tangela
Yet another first time use for gen 2. I bred this with an Exeggcute for Reflect and Confusion because this poor bastard needed all the help it could get. Reflect helped soften Lance's Hyper Beams. Sleep Powder was essential.
