When I first played BW Unova felt small to me and for some time I thought it was the circular layout what accounted for this despite the routes being rich in features.
Then I played BW2 and took the boat tour in Castelia city. The boat literally reached Marvelous Bridge which is like going from Castelia straight to Nimbasa in about a minute or so. This is in contrast to GSC/HGSS where taking the magnetic train actually made me feel like I was going to some faraway place in spite of Johto being literally next door to Kanto.
Wouldn't it also make sense for Unova to be smaller? I mean, it's basically just Manhattan + Brooklyn-Queens and a little chunk of NJ (Hudson County) compared to Kanto which includes basically all of the Greater Tokyo area (Tokyo, Yokohama, et al), the latter spanning an area far larger than the boroughs mentioned.
So what's your take on this non-issue?
Does the scale of the Pokémon maps compared to their real world counterpart triggers your maptism?
