I will say, as someone who has actually finished the game, this is not easier than the rest of the series. In fact, it might be the hardest game in the series. This is of course a low bar (the whole series is pretty easy), but hardest is a relative term. It's just that the earlygame is the easiest in the series (makes even Sun and Moon earlygame look super hard by comparison), the midgame is slightly harder than most of the games (far more dangerous opponents but you have far better access than most games to making a good team yourself so it kinda balances out), and the latest parts of the game are the hardest in the series by a lot because the late boss trainers have pretty well constructed and high level teams. Of course, it never gets hard to the point it's really a problem to handle and the earlygame is so ridiculously trivial that I think a lot of people never re-evaluate their take on the difficulty of the game once they get further in.
