Trying to go for a well-groomed look instead of letting it look disheveled or wispy means every damn pixel makes a difference, even if it's just adding or removing a corner pixel to the outline. I think it's coming out pretty good so far, though, after I basically entirely scrapped a few earlier attempts. I'll probably try a battle pose in the future where he looks all feral and unhinged to depict how he tends to just go silent during fights, to contrast the cuter look I'm going for this time that fits his general personality more.
I also picked up a pencil and paper for the first time in a while and started doodling Kaiji on the back of some paper I had lying around, might finish it tomorrow. Need to think about where he'd have his badge.
Taking a break from writing has helped clear my head, and I think the reason I've had so much trouble and stalled while debating wording so much is because since it's a shitpost it actually has to be funny, and slight differences in delivery can really make or break a joke. I'll just push through the draft and work on fine-tuning it when I go over it for editing after.
