Follow people you like, mute people (and words) you don't like, and it's fairly good (by modern social media standards). 4chan gives you way less ability to control what you see. You can filter words, choose which boards to use, and that's pretty much it. Is some retard(s) shitting up your favorite board or general? Too bad, you have to see everything they post.
If we lived in the good timeline every social media site would have thorough booru style filtering and tagging systems, but sadly that's not the case and likely never will be.
