It sounds like some of his stuff was simply renamed or retooled into what we have today, like Bond+Whistle becoming Amie and affection and the Miiverse thing being the PSS. Also the juice bars may have become cafes, and your 'writer rival' might have become Alexa (possibly original champion?).
