A better ending would've been Melmetal losing its fusion, and Kartana & co. finding the confused little Meltans on the floor, with headaches, unaware of what happened exactly. Once they realize they start feeling worse than before, guilt creeping into their very souls, but Kartana reassures them. It was all like living a nightmare, their minds got corrupted and they weren't themselves.
From there on Kartana promises to give them a happier life, a new beginning, and the little Meltans, with tears in their eyes, look upwards, hopefully, as it shows the sun shining once again.
