>The Gym Challenge is a nation-wide event just like it is in the current game>Most people tune in to see their favorite gym leaders curb stomp the challengers>It's all organised by Chairman Rose who makes a huge profit off merchandising and commercialising Pokemon battles and trainers>MC is forced to enter the tournament for some reason (mom is sick and they need the money or something)>You're presumed fodder for the first gym leader, whose fans boo you as you enter the stadium and he doesn't even acknowlrdge the possibility that you could beat him>Have commentators who just say you're some kid who has no chance of beating a gym leader>You actually beat the gym leader>Fans are in shock, but ultimately accuse you of cheating or using other underhanded tactics>You press on with your journey anyway cause you have no choice>From this point on you'll periodically see news articles and TV programs slandering you cause Rose doesn't want the fans to get attached to someone outside of his control>Eventually the tide shifts, after your 4th gym win you see a group of kids run up to you in your uniform asking for your autograph>You see more and more slander in the media of your character, even the gym leaders you haven't beaten are now appearing in interviews saying all your victories are flukes and they'll easily crush you>Beat them anyway as you slowly build up your fanbase>Eventually make it to the championship battle with Leon, who's one of your childhood heroes from before Pokemon battling was so soulless>Now he's just an arrogant walking product of Rose's company like everyone else>You beat him, the fanbase you've built up roars in applause>"Listen MC... don't let Rose do to you what he did to me">You finally get to meet Rose face to face>He offers you the chance of a lifetime: become the face of Galar's Pokemon League as its new champion
