If you're playing a predominantly narrative driven game then you're not really playing a real jrpg and instead are playing something that wanted to be a visual novel first.
How anyone with even the slightest knowledge of jrpgs, Heck, video game rpgs in general can say they're narrative driven like that is beyond me.
