Basically imagine a 5x5 box, your the center, any patch that matches your last in the parimitar has an 88% of last encounter + additional 10% if you caught the mon last (I use quick balls on easy mons, repeat on harder).
Don't believe anything else about patches next to each other, if its touch an obstruction or any other cancer spread by pseudo superstitious "shiny hunters". Also if the chain fails there is a chance it can continue since it will roll the odds of a random encounter instead which can land on the mon your hunting which is why people start with route 1 mons to practice. (I started with 5

Now personally anon I wouldn't go catch every single budew, the area and encounter rate is good enough to do the first 20-25 through K-O so long you use the parimitar method. One last note: Do not reset a chan or go for a patch on thie very border of patches (especially large areas where camera cuts off areas) cause if you cut off or just move to far from other patches that shook it will say the patch has gone quiet, 1 away is fine though. (This is why I only have 1 shiny porygon)
