What did you guys think of SwSh adding a whopping 200 TMs? I personally felt it was for the better. Egg Moves and breeding in general are a tedious point of Pokemon I'd like to look pass. IV Breeding and natures are alright, but the idea of breeding for egg moves always seemed like an unneccessary endeavor if you asked me.
So for my fangame, in order to hasten development, I've decided to exclude breeding to avoid deciding egg moves Pokemon can learn, avoid the task of categorizing Pokemon based on egg group, etc. I've decided to just make a shit ton of moves TMs so people can teach their Pokemon any move straight from their bag. Is it immersion breaking? Yeah, sort of. Does it matter? I'd argue no. Do you play a fangame intending to breed egg moves for comp? You wouldn't, which is why I've decided to go this route with 500 TMs.
They will consist of an array of moves ranging from weaker early game moves you can purchase that you can use to gain the upper hand against my tough gym leaders. I would prefer this be the norm to prevent players NEEDING to drop or add a team member better suited for the gym. Its terrible that Pokemon, the game about overcoming obstacles with your bros, would force you to do something like that. Same issue with HMs where they force you to drag some random Pokemon you don't want. I always wanted to focus on opening up Pokemon's movepools even larger. So every battle will feel fresh with, but knowing fanfic meta players, they will always use the same shit that is OP for the gen.
What do you guys think? Would you want to edit your Pokemon's moveset straight from the bag or would you rather have it seperated through BP needed for Move Tutors, continous breeding, and Heart Scales for early moves your Pokemon learns at Lvl 0?
