I just think people who have browsed 4chan long enough feel the need to view anything as good or helpful is a bad thing so they develop a false shell. Due to the anonymity, it makes it easier to be an elitist asshole sharing your opinion and belittling others. So when people come into the thread and see an actual, relatively good community, they feel the need to put up walls and shame people just because of a false sense of "niceness on the internet? That can't happen!" I know that for me, /shw/ was a place I went to for like-minded people who are doing the same thing I'm doing and it felt really great. Now, here's the important part: Put those people in the same space together and, surprise, things will get off topic and discussion of anything having to do with personal life or society WILL occur.
