And now for a hypothetical plot with an autistic level of detail:
Would start in unova as a loner type, just focused on evolving the team and getting stronger in early episodes, basically exposition/backstory for why the team is fully evolved. Eventually as a way to cope with a death of a loved one later on, they travel to Kalos, where the companions are met. The Hex Maniac would tie into themes of death in a way and be an aspiring Ghost gym leader and be made fun of for being scared surprisingly easily for a ghost type user. The breeder would tie into themes of life and be trying to learn mysteries of pokemon like “do genderless pokemon reproduce if at all?” or “what happens when a major legendary is caught like Groudon or Xerneas” In Kalos the group would mainly help others as the protagonist wonders what they really want in life and how to make the most of it until death.
