Gen 1 romhack. New region, new types, a lot of pokemon to catch, and a ton of exploration. Going around the map was great. Highly recommend.
2. Pokemon Grape
Same reasons as Pokemon Brown, but to an insane degree. Game isn't very linear, there's little story, and the map is huge, I feel so lost in this game. It's frustrating but also really satisfying in a way. I think the creator is ESL so the story is very hard to understand, it's also a little edgy too. Your rival is Paul from the anime, he's Giovanni's son, and you kill his Dodrio in a rival fight. Hilarious as fuck. Game is difficult too.
3. Pokemon Prism
Gen 2 romhack. Once again a new region and storyline. Sequel to Pokemon Brown too. Spritework is really good too. Guess I just really like new places with the retro feel of Gens 1 and 2. Really you should check out Prism's sprites. Only flaw is that it has really annoying puzzles.

I like the new storyline and the stealing pokemon mechanic. I like around the end of the game where
you get a counterfeit trainer card and start challenging gyms. Overall just a really cool way to go through Firered again.
5. Pokemon Clover
Amazing gameplay. Very balanced and challenging, good fights everywhere, and the postgame is amazing, it's everything I wished the Sevii Islands were. Fakemon might be a bit hard to get used to but there are a lot of bros to use, there isn't a lot of shitmon in Clover, everything is good in their own way. Really fun game.
