>>57241045The swirly face is an iconic Ashnime staple though.
Although in regular frames Sango has those NuDigimon eyes, not the OG Sugimori artstyle.
What we all have to understand is that Horizons is simply not on par with the Ashnime and it inherently never could be, just due to it not having the most essential Pokemon anime ingredient - Ash as the main protagonist, or Satoshi as he is known in Japan. It makes Horizons inferior in storytelling quality on a deepest level since the story is not driven by the vision of Shudo extrapolated onto the journey between regions in a tournament format, with peak writing for battles, making the outcomes of the League battles always unpredictable. Horizons doesn't have league stakes per se so the outcomes of the Pokemon battles don't really have any weigth one way or another.
Horizons is anything but the ideal type of Pokemon anime, that's a given.
With that in mind, approach the Horizons, watch it yet be aware of it's anti-ashnime nature. You can enjoy it but it is wrong to say it could ever be better than the Ashnime.
