>>27563567This is how I feel about Robinhoot. Grass starters walk the line of having to incorporate plant elements effectively but also being animals and appealing to the fans as creatures. They'll probably never do a straight-up botanical starter because everyone loves animals.
I chose Chespin last gen, and while the chesnut theme was a unique idea it didn't necessarily translate well into projecting "I am a Grass-type" clearly. Serperior's leaves look a bit tacked on, but vine snakes are a thing so it gets a bit more of a pass for resembling a real critter with plant camouflage.
I expected them to take Rowlet in the camo direction because lots of real owls have amazing abilities to blend in with their surroundings. This would allow them to work in plant elements like wood patterns, leafy protrusions or feathers, and the like. Robinhoot does this a bit with its hood and overall coloration, and I wouldn't be surprised if dex flavor and behavior expand on it hiding among treetop foliage and the like.
The leaf bow tie developing into vines for a bowstring is a very unique, well-thought-out design choice. I could see a signature arrow move being Flying or Grass.
